About Us

Sweet Vintage was born from a longstanding passion for mid 20th century design. Our aim is to offer an eclectic mix of furniture and collectables from the late 1940’s to the early 1970’s. We very carefully source our stock, and like all good design have a ‘less is more philosophy’ that enables us to source, restore and sell our pieces at a very competitive price.

We are based at a small workshop in Chesterfield, North Derbyshire. Our stock is lovingly restored in-house – this involves cleaning, stripping old lacquer when necessary, sealing, oiling and refinishing to a high standard. We also work with several fastidious local craftsmen – a cabinet-maker, restorer and upholsterer who collectively have over 80 years experience in the trade.

We are passionate collectors of mid 20th century furniture and collectables and as such are a little obsessed with provenance! We pride ourselves on our detailed and accurate descriptions based on 15 years of collecting. We don’t describe items as Danish when they aren’t and we know our tola from our teak. We are constantly learning and sometimes have no idea who the maker or designer is – but if we find a piece that is both functional and beautiful or if we just fall in love with it – we’ll buy it, restore it and describe it HONESTLY. We get a huge thrill when we get positive feedback from our customers – many of whom come back to us again and again. Please take a look at our SOLD section for a sample of our previous stock.

We spend hours travelling across the country and searching the internet to source our stock and are happy to work with you or your business to find a specific piece. Likewise if you’ve got some vintage pieces that you need to sell or want to exchange please contact us matt@sweet-vintage.com

“ A stunning sideboard – it looks even better than in the pics, we are thrilled. “  Mark, London.
