Very rare Crannac ‘Model C’ lounge chair c.1959 for bespoke upholstery (RESERVED)

Product Description

A rare opportunity to purchase a ‘Model C’ lounge / cocktail chair designed by Arthur Edwards in 1959 and produced by John Hogg & Company in the Republic of Ireland.  This beautiful chair has a striking sculptural frame lovingly crafted from solid afrormosia with a gently curved floating seat and tapered back.  This design was the first Irish produced chair to be given a Design Council award in 1960 and is rare survivor as they were produced in low volumes.  We have fully restored the frame on this example and it presents beautifully with just the odd ding and mark – its a lovely mellow colour and is now ready for new upholstery.  Its original Donegal tweed is usable but doesn’t meet current fire regulations.  The price therefore includes all new foam and upholstery of your choice – we think a Magee or Bute tweed would look amazing – please contact us to discuss options. A scarcely seen and important chair that will only increase in value.  We now have a second identical chair available, interested in the pair please contact us to discuss.

79cm wide x 65cm depth x 75cm height.  Height to seat 35cm.
