Robin Day Hilleplan unit ‘D’ bookcase c.1952

Product Description

A fabulous design by Robin Day for Hille c.1952. The modular ‘Hilleplan’ range was designed by Day in 1952  – it included a wide range of cabinets / sideboards and chests that could be used together or individually. Highly collectable and increasingly rare this unit ‘D’ bookcase is finished in a lovely pale golden solid agba, with two adjustable shelves and sliding glass doors and finished with gently tapering beech legs. This example is stamped to the rear with an impressed Utility Furniture stamp (CC41) making this example an exceptionally rare first year of production piece (the Utility Furniture Scheme was abolished on January 21st 1953 after its introduction in 1941).

In excellent professionally restored condition and given a soft-sheen, highly durable, UV resistant and maintenance free lacquer finish (as per original).  Wonderful natural lustre to the pale golden agba – a wonderful example.

76cm (height) x 137cm (length) x 30.5cm (depth)
