A stunning solid teak coffee table by Finn Juhl for France & Søn of Denmark circa 1959. This piece was produced as part of a series of tables that included square and side tables with this being the largest. The common feature is the raised lip that runs the entire length of the piece (giving it a slightly Asian feel) as well as the solid teak timber construction. The design is incredibly simple and extremely elegant with subtle detailing. Sourced from the original owner who purchased the table in Denmark in 1960 and imported it to the UK. Clearly marked France & Daverkosen, Made in Denmark plus gold France & Son circular emblem confirming this as a very early production piece. Very, very collectable and a sound investment.
In wonderful condition, cleaned and given an oiled finish with just the odd very light surface mark and a small area of tiny black spots (the result of spending most of its life in a living room with an open fire! – but barely noticeable see close up pic) – fabulous honey coloured teak and rich grain.
