Wonderful walnut and laurel sideboard by Peter Hayward for Vanson c.1957

Category: .

Product Description

An absolutely stunning restored sideboard designed by Peter Hayward and produced by Vanson in the mid 1950’s. This beautifully proportioned and extremely elegant design is elevated by the fabulous combination of materials used on this example – the top and sides are veneered in richly figured and coloured Australian walnut and the front in a gorgeous Indian Laurel which has an incredible depth and vivid colour.  The sideboards hardware and wonderful droop handles are in solid brass and the piece sits on gently tapered beech legs – its a stand out example of this design, I have never seen another example in this combination of materials before.  The cupboard doors open to reveal a single adjustable / removable shelf, whilst the top drawers features partitions and a lift out, solid mahogany cutlery drawer – all with brand new black felt. A stunning piece with just the odd mark and ding that can only be seen on very, very close inspection as the rich colour and grain is very forgiving.

137cm length x 45.5cm depth x 84cm height
